I have been using this primer for a couple of months now. I'm a makeup artist and now that I have tried it on myself I will definitely be replacing my kit eye shadow base. I love how affordable it is first of all.... :) The quality is great! The sponge applicator is great and a little product goes a long way. I do think it is on the more oily side so when I apply it to my eye lids I use my finger to smudge it out. I even apply some under my eyes to help adhere my concealer for all day wear. After I've used my finger I apply a base (flesh tone) eye shadow to seal the primer. I have supppper oily lids and my eye shadow lasts all day :)

Not even a question- GET THIS!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't realize how much I needed this until I used it. Wow!
The primer is about my skin tone (not sure if the picture really shows it, but I'm very fair). It's lightweight, but can make the shadow look cakey if you don't spread it evenly over your lid. I wanted to show just how effective this thing was. I made a (admittedly terrible) swatch in the picture below;
I used a non-NYX shadow in the picture. The first swatch shows the pigment of the color without the primer.Next is just the primer on my skin, and the last is the shadow used on top of the primer. You can see just how awesome this primer is. Definitely worth it!

THIS IS A MUST TO HAVE IN UR MAKEUP BAG!!! I've been using this product now for about a week and it hasn't disappointed me at all. Although I haven't been using it for long I am confident it will endure. I like the application because it goes on almost like an eyelid moisturizer...very smooth and rich but not sticky or greasy at all. It really gives shadows longevity throughout the day; so, u don't have to worry about fading, creasing, or smudging. Compared to MAC I prefer NYX of course b/c of cost effectiveness as well as the fact that MAC has a dark brown tint and it has a dimming effect on bright shadows, but the NYX base is just right for brights and nudes both matte and shimmer.

I find this to be ever-so-slightly less smooth than Urban Decay's Primer Potion and noticeably less-smooth than Too Faced's Shadow Insurance HOWEVER! For the price and the fact that you get a doe-foot applicator (I hated UD's wand in their potion-bottle shaped primer potion -- the bent applicator was not as user friendly as they may have thought!) and that the formula really does work just as well as it's more expensive relatives I highly recommend this product, especially if you use primer on a regular basis and can't afford to keep buying a higher-end brand. The color payoff and longevity of wear for this is absolutely comparable to UD and TF's eye shadow primers and I highly recommend it for anyone!

works pretty well! this is a BASE, not a primer.
i see some people calling this a "primer" in their reviews. eyeshadow primers and eyeshadow bases are two different things. this is not a primer. it's a base, which is why it's called "HD Eye Shadow Base". you would use a primer under a base.
i find that it works quite well, and the price is good.
my advice for use: do not use too much! you only need a tiny bit. let it sit for a minute before applying eyeshadow on top. when i prep my eyelids, i first dust a tiny amount of transluscent powder into my crease. then i apply primer. once the primer is dry, i apply the eyeshadow base. hope this helps!

Amaaaaazing!!!
I bought this product as I was searching for a comparable primer to UD's, which was becoming rather expensive to use on a daily basis. I have to say, I am shocked at the quality of this primer! It makes eyeshadows last all day and night! I discovered this after I fell asleep with my makeup on and the next morning was pleasantly surprised and shocked that my eyeliner and eyeshadow were still in pristine condition from the night before! It also makes the eyeshadows blend much more smoothly. I reach for this primer much more often than my UD one. This primer is definitely a must have and it is also very budget friendly!

I absolutely ADORE their base!
I am a makeup artist and recently did the show CATS (8 shows all together) when it came to the eye shadow colour (if needed) I applied this base and it lasted the entire day!
I use this product personally and highly recommend to others.
I prefer this product over Urban Decay's Primer Potion because I find theirs to be very oily. NYX's is nice and thick, but not oily. I apply only a bit of product to my entire lid and up to my brow no matter what I'm using it for. If you find it too oily, try and use less of the product, you only need to swipe the wand in a line on your lid (using a minimal amount of product)and blend with a finger. I also use NYX's Jumbo Eye pencils as another base and to make the colours pop.

Wow. This stuff truly performs as advertised!
I bought this eyeshadow base about 6-8 months ago, and I adore it.
The key is in being minimal in your application of the product. I put 3 dots on each eyelid with the doe foot applicator, then I pat the solution into a thin, even layer over the eyelid. Allow about 1-2 minutes for it to become dry; it will still stick your eyeshadow on there, no worries.
Then apply your eye shadows (initially patting on your base color, then smoothing with your finger). This eye shadow base literally (if I'm being gross and lazy) keeps my eyes looking fabulous for multiple days. Works with the NYX felt tip eye liner, too.
